The Grand Orrery model of the solar system shows the relative orbital movement of the moon of Earth as well as the accurate relative orbital speeds of the planets. Due to their development in the early 18th century, a Grand Orrery historically only displayed the "naked eye" planets out to Saturn.
Our model shows 28 moons and 9 planets, including Pluto. The compound motion of the moon's orbit around the Earth and the Earth's orbit around the Sun is demonstrated by the Earth-moon system.

For every orbit of Pluto, Mercury completes 1028 orbits. Pluto takes almost four hours to orbit, whereas Mercury takes about four seconds.Beautiful spheres of semi-precious stone make up the Sun, nine planets, and twenty-eight moons.
The system, which is a wonderful demonstration of moving solid brass gears, is completely visible beneath the orbiting planet.

The Grand Orrery is presented gracefully in a twelve-sided oak barrel casing with excellent woodwork, supported by twelve solid brass feet.
Above the oak barrel are twelve brass pillars supporting an engraved brass calendar/zodiacal ring.
The Grand Orrery is exquisitely crowned by a detachable solid brass armillary half-sphere that stands above the calendar ring and around the moving planets.
