Having owned a set of Japanese knifes I write this review with the perspective of using this sharpener vs a whetstone.Obviously if you have super expensive knives and are very particular about the angle you sharpen them to then this isn't the sharpener for you! I certainly wouldn't be putting my Japanese knives though this!However, for your everyday European knives this is very effective and really simple to use. The sharpen setting is very course and will take quite a bit off your knives. It's great to repair any chips or to get a very blunt knife back to sharp.Most of the time a few pulls in the daily prep mode and then finishing with the polish will leave you with a sharp knife! The bread knife is a great setting to have to sharpen serrated blades and the scissors is a nice touch!Overall this is a very effective easy to use multifunction sharpener!

Meine Frau wollte schon längere Zeit unbedingt einen "eigenen" Messerschärfer. Ich besitze diverse Werkzeuge zum schärfen von Messern und mach den Job auch gerne aber ich sehe gerne ein, dass es manchmal eben kein gleich sein darf sondern es nur ein sofort gibt.Bei diesem Gerät kann man tatsächlich wenig verkehrt machen, gefühlt heisst es einfach das Messer 2-3 mal über die "Klinge", sprich das Scherfwerkzeug ziehen und schon sollte die jeweilige Klinge wieder "Biss" haben.Das Gerät funktioniert diesbezüglich ausgezeichnet, es ist sogar eine Stufe mit Keramikinlay einstellbar um den Grad nach dem Schärfen der Klinge zu entfernen. Ich persönlich würde von der "Sharpen" Einstellung möglichst absehen, da der Materialabtrag von der Klinge doch nicht ganz unerheblich ist über "Daily use" also den täglichen Gebrauch, erreicht man ein vollkommen ausreichendes Niveau.Außerdem gibt es eine Variante, die man für Scheren einsetzen kann auch das ist praktisch da unser 7 jähriger Sohn zur Zeit gerne mit der Schere bastelt und da schadet es nicht die Schere ab und an nachzuschleifen.Ich finde den Messerschärfer auch vom Design her sehr gelungen, er hat zudem ein sehr ordentlliches Kampfgewicht und steht sicher.Ich habe an diesem Produkt nichts zu bemängeln und vergebe daher 5 Sterne.

I got this to replace my small suction cup sharpener with one type of sharpening stone. This is much more versatile. I never even noticed that only one side of a serrated blade is sharp, but this sharpens them nicely. It also feels much more stable than my suction cup one, which I never fully trusted. Holding it at a safe distance with your other hand, along with rubber grips on the base feels much nicer and more controlled.

Das ganze kommt relativ einfach verpackt zusammen mit einer Anleitung. Das Design des Schärfers er erinnert ein Stück weit an einen Fisch, der sein Maul relativ weit oben hat. Über das Drehrad/Auge lassen sich die verschiedenen Schärf Funktionen durchschalten. Das Gerät liegt sehr gut in der Hand und hat einen sicheren Stand auf jeder glatten, geraden Oberfläche. Die Messer werden anständig geschärft. Alles in allem ein solides und vernünftiges Produkt, für das wir uns sofort wieder entscheiden würden.

I got this knife sharpener as a birthday present for a friend of mine. He is a big fan of cooking, and he cooks all kinds of food at home. He has a set of knives, which he keeps in the immaculate condition, therefore while getting this present for him, I was hoping to ease his knife maintenance.This sharpener features 4 modes for knife sharpening and one mode for scissor sharpening. Using the device is pretty simple all you have to do is to select the mode via rotating the knob on the side of the device, and pull the knife through the V-shaped sharpening area. It is important to note that there must be only pulling motion, not in both directions.I very much hope that this will be of use for my friend, and he will like it, as much as I did.
